It began with a wife who wanted to read on Shabbos.

Years ago, a rebbetzin who loved to read asked her husband a simple question: could there be a bedside light she could dim on Shabbos? He searched the seforim, found a way, and — with the help of a congregant in the lighting business — built the first prototype.

That prototype became The KosherLamp®, and it spread from a single community to Jewish homes across six continents. Everything we've made since carries that same spirit: a real need, met the right way.
